American Named Nuncio to PhilippinesMANILA, Philippines, SEPT. 3, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI appointed American Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams as apostolic nuncio to the Philippines. He will leave his current position as nuncio to Zimbabwe.
The Vatican press office announced today the appointment. Archbishop Adams replaces Archbishop Fernando Filoni, who served in the nunciature of the Philippines until he was appointed "sostituto" for general affairs at the Vatican Secretariat of State last June.
Edward Adams was born in 1944 in Philadelphia. He was ordained a priest for that archdiocese in 1970.
